METONYMY
Man's Creation
For my piece using Metonymy, I used Michealangelo's "Creation of Adam" to draw comparison to the world we have created for ourselves. I hoped to comment on the sheer amount of precious time we spend in pursuit of success and money, and how we sometimes sacrifice what is most important to us and in the process distance ourselves from our passions.

METAPHOR
Out of Left Field
The metaphor that inspired this piece is the saying "That came out of left field", meaning that something unexpected came out of nowhere. I made an effort to make an unusual image that would hopefully provoke the same feeling. I put unusual objects coming out of a hole on a literal left field as a sort of play on words, and chose a bright red-orange to really contrast these objects from the grassy environment.
